9th ERCOFTAC/IAHR Workshop on Refined Turbulence Modelling

October 4-5, 2001

Darmstadt University of Technology, Germany

Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) has developed to a key technology which play an important role in design, development and optimization in engineering practice. Although the increasing computer capacities enable a broader use of highly resolved computational schemes such as Direct Numerical Simulation (DNS) and Large Eddy Simulation (LES), the statistical turbulence modelling used in the framework of the Reynolds Averaged Navier-Stokes (RANS) approach represents nowadays a real industrial standard. The ERCOFTAC Workshops on Refined Turbulence Modelling aim to bring together scientists and researchers, users and developers from industry and from the academic field. Following the previous workshops in Manchester and Helsinki, some fundamental phenomena, but also some industrially relevant problems are kept in mind in chosing the test cases for this workshop.
